Gabriela Sade Harris
Gabriela Sade Harris is on the move, and she can’t be stopped, whether it’s as captain of SABIS’ Outdoor and Indoor Girls Track and Field programs or when she’s competing All-State, All-Western Mass for track. She has been named Most Valuable Player on multiple occasions and has also received the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association’s (MIAA) Outstanding Athlete Award for Community and Leadership.
Not to be limited by her athletic achievements, Gabriela is also the Vice President of the National Honor Society and has participated in the school’s Student Life Organization as a mentor.
A student at SABIS since the seventh grade, Gabriela says the school’s close-knit community is one of its best parts. “I actually love these people,” she says. “I feel like a lot of high schools say they’re a family, but we really are.”
College-bound, Gabriela applied early action to seven schools including Fordham University, Northeastern University, Wesleyan University, and Stonehill College. She has set her sights on Wesleyan. “I’m doing the pre-med track, so I [plan on majoring in] bio-chemistry,” she says, adding, “I’ve always wanted to be a dermatologist [or] do pharmaceuticals or medical device sales.”
Having said that, Gabriela is open to a future filled with professional possibilities. With the strong academic background she built while at SABIS, she could see herself working in a pharmaceutical or medical device company and even becoming CEO one day.
Like all high school seniors, Gabriela is focused now on “just trying to figure myself out, but she’s open to wherever life takes her. Backed by the foundation SABIS has given her, one thing is for certain…she’s on the move and one day she will move mountains!
Gabriela says the school’s close-knit community is one of its best parts.
