Important Information about the New School Year

August 19, 2019

Dear Families,

Welcome to the 2020 school year!  As you are no doubt aware school will begin on Monday, August 26th and we are all looking forward to a productive and enjoyable year.  We need your help to ensure our success.  Please be reminded of the following expectations:

  • Students must be dressed in uniform from the time they enter the building until dismissal.  Daily intermittent checks will take place and there will be consequences for students who are not in uniform.
  • Students will be greeted at the doors each morning.  All cell phones, earbuds, headphones or any other listening devices must be removed upon entering the building and placed in a backpack for the remainder of the day.  Students are not allowed to use cell phones at any point during the day.  If there is an emergency please call the office and we will contact your child to come to the office and call you.  If cell phones are observed they will be confiscated and returned at the end of the day for the first infraction.  If there is a subsequent infraction, a parent or guardian will be required to pick up the phone.
  • All students will be expected to be in school for the entire school day.  Each time a student is tardy, leaves early or is absent, this will be noted in their attendance file.  Missing school excessively can result in a failure of the subject for the term or the year.  It may also result in the loss of on campus parking privileges for any student who utilizes this privilege.  A parental note will be required for any absence.  Phone calls to the school are not adequate.
  • With the exception of water, food and drinks are not permissible in the classrooms during the day.

Please be aware of the new speed bumps which have been installed at both entrances to campus.  We suggest you drive slowly to avoid damage to your vehicle.  Please also be aware of stop signs and speed limits within the neighborhood.  It is common for police officers and our neighbors to monitor this.

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in helping us get the year off to a very positive beginning.  We are all looking forward to your support and to a wonderful school year.  Together we can educate your children in a kind and caring environment with respect shown to all.

Sincerely,

Maretta Thomsen
