Trevon Jones graduated in May 2018 from Bentley University with a major in finance, and he is determined to use the opportunities he has had in life to help others. A major factor enabling many of the opportunities he has had so far is the SABIS International Charter School.
“Going to SABIS stimulated my intellectual curiosity,” says Trevon. Truth be told, initially he didn’t want to attend SABIS. “My mom wanted the best possible education for me, but I was more concerned about playing sports,” says Trevon.
He actually went on to play basketball and football at SABIS, but admits he got much more than expected out of his high school years there. “Everyone at SABIS is totally invested in your success, whether in the classroom or preparing you for what to expect when you enter college. I can’t say enough about the academics. The fact that I would see my peers at other schools still doing algebra, while I was already learning calculus, made me realize how far advanced we were at SABIS,” says Trevon, 22.
Upon graduating, Trevon was able to attend one of the nation’s leading business schools thanks to several scholarships based on merit and need. Today, he is putting his degree to work in the field of commercial real estate. He’s also putting to good use traditional values such as good citizenship taught alongside academics at SABIS.
“It’s my goal to help others in the community understand personal finance and to work toward more affordable housing in Springfield,” says Trevon.
