Amari Q. Brown
“SABIS made me the person I am today,” says Amari Q. Brown, a 2014 graduate of the SABIS International Charter School who is starting a promising job at Accenture in Charlotte, NC, as a management consultant analyst.
Amari’s path to a promising career was paved by SABIS. When he was going into the 7th grade, his grandmother was looking around Springfield for the school that could offer him the best education in the city. She found SABIS.
“When I entered the 7th grade at SABIS, I didn’t know the potential I had, but there were a lot of resources for you to do well, and the teachers there never gave up on me,” he says.
The power of the education Amari got at SABIS is evident. He went on to graduate with an economics degree from Morehouse College, a historically black college in Atlanta, Georgia, attended by the likes of Martin Luther King Jr., filmmaker “Spike” Lee, and many other prominent individuals.
“Thanks to the rigorous, advanced classwork at SABIS, I was able to hit the ground running when I entered college and was ready to compete against some of the brightest kids in the world at Morehouse,” says Amari.
According to Amari, “SABIS is a premiere school in Springfield.”
“When I graduated more than 90% of students were going onto college,” he says. “You are given that education, but you are also getting people who really care about you, and besides all the numbers – this can take students far in life.”
